The first classroom
should feel like
somewhere safe.

Keystage Pre School is where a two-year-old learns to separate from a parent, hold a crayon, make a friend and love a book — in a room built entirely around how small children actually learn.

Why Keystage Pre School

Eight reasons parents
choose us first.

Everything below is something you can see for yourself on a weekday morning. Come unannounced if you like — that is rather the point.

01

Play is the syllabus

Children this age learn through their hands, not through worksheets. Every concept arrives as a game, a story, a song or a mess worth making.

02

Small groups, always

A ratio of one teacher to eight children, with a trained helper in every room, so no child spends the morning waiting to be noticed.

03

A settling-in plan

The first two weeks are staged — shortened days, a familiar adult, a named teacher. Separation is handled gently, not endured.

04

Day boarding that works

Extended hours to 6 PM with rest, a hot meal and quiet play — plus a parent work station on campus if you would rather stay close.

05

Security you can see

Full CCTV, controlled single-point entry, verified pick-up, staff police verification and child-safe fittings throughout.

06

Two languages, naturally

English through immersion, alongside Tamil, so children move between both without either being a lesson to be dreaded.

07

A real pathway

UKG here leads straight into Grade 1 at Keystage School of Excellence. No fresh admission scramble at age five.

08

You are told everything

A daily note, photographs, a termly portfolio and two parent meetings a year — plus a teacher who will take your call.

Our story

Built by people who
had run out of patience.

Keystage began with a straightforward frustration: too many pre-schools in this region were either a franchise template dropped into a rented hall, or a primary school with the desks made smaller. Neither is early years education.

So we built one properly. Rooms designed around floor play rather than rows. Teachers trained in early childhood, not borrowed from Grade 2. An outdoor space that is genuinely used. And then, because parents kept asking what happens after UKG, we built the school that follows it.

  • Purpose-designed early-years rooms, not converted classrooms
  • Teachers trained specifically in early childhood practice
  • Our own curriculum framework, reviewed every year
  • A continuous pathway from age two to Grade 12 on one campus

From the Chairman & Director

Handing over a two-year-old is the hardest thing a parent does. I have watched it happen at our gate hundreds of times, and it has never once looked easy.

So we built this pre-school around that moment rather than around a syllabus. A staged settling-in over two weeks. One teacher to eight children. A named adult who greets your child by name. The parent work station exists for exactly this reason — if you would rather be five minutes away than fifty, you can be.

Come and stand in the corridor at 8:45 in the morning. That is the honest test of a pre-school.

Children of this age do not learn from worksheets. They learn from sand, water, blocks, songs, arguments over a toy and the patience of an adult who does not rush them.

That is why our day looks the way it does — play first, phonics done properly rather than early, and outdoor time every single day the weather allows. We do not test children here, and we do not rank them. What we do is watch closely and tell you honestly what we see.

You will get a note every day, photographs, and a teacher who will take your call. That is the deal.

Leadership & management

The people responsible
for your child's day.

A small school should be able to tell you exactly who is accountable for what. Here is ours.

The Management Trust

Sets the vision, approves the budget and holds the school to its promises. Meets monthly and reviews safety, staffing and academic outcomes at every sitting.

The Head of Pre School

Owns the daily running of the school — curriculum delivery, staff development, parent communication and the settling-in of every new child.

Early Years Coordinator

Plans the weekly themes, observes classroom practice, maintains each child's developmental record and runs the termly parent meetings.

Class Teachers

One named teacher per group, qualified in early childhood education, supported by a trained classroom helper. Your first point of contact, always.

Care & Wellbeing

A trained attendant on duty through the day for first aid, hygiene, meals and rest — and the person who calls you before you have to call us.

Admissions Office

Handles enquiries, campus visits, documentation and fee queries — and stays your contact through the first term, not just until you pay.

Teaching methodology

Six ways of learning,
one curious child.

Our framework draws on established early-years practice — play-based enquiry, thematic learning and structured phonics — and holds every activity to one test: does the child stay curious?

Play-based enquiry

Sand, water, blocks, dough and role play. Children test ideas physically before they can express them verbally, and the teacher follows the child's question.

Thematic units

Every few weeks the whole school explores one theme — My Body, Water, Our Town, Growing Things — across language, number, art and outdoor play.

Structured phonics

Sounds before letters, blending before reading. Systematic, sequenced and paced so that a child arrives at Grade 1 reading with confidence, not anxiety.

Early numeracy

Counting, sorting, patterns, shape and quantity through concrete objects first — the number on the page comes only once the idea is secure.

Expressive arts

Music, rhyme, movement, dance, colour and clay every single week. Not a Friday reward — a core part of how young children process the world.

Social & emotional

Naming feelings, taking turns, resolving a dispute, asking for help. We teach these explicitly, because they are the skills school actually runs on.

A day at Keystage Pre School

8:30 – 9:00

Arrival & free play

Greeted by name at the gate. Settling-in play while the room fills — no child walks into a formal lesson.

9:00 – 9:30

Circle time

Songs, the calendar, weather, news from home and the theme of the week. Where the day gets its shape.

9:30 – 10:30

Learning centres

Small-group rotation — phonics, numeracy, fine motor and sensory play, with the teacher leading one group at a time.

10:30 – 11:00

Snack & wash

Hand washing, sitting together, clearing up. Independence is taught here more than anywhere else.

11:00 – 12:00

Outdoor & gross motor

Climbing, running, balance, the splash zone and the sand pit. Weather permitting, this happens every day.

12:00 – 12:45

Lunch

A hot, freshly prepared meal, eaten together and supervised, with dietary needs recorded and respected.

12:45 – 2:00

Rest & quiet time

A darkened room, individual mats, soft music. Day-boarding children sleep; half-day children go home at 12:45.

2:00 – 6:00

Day boarding

Story, art, free play, an evening snack and supervised winding down until a parent arrives.

Infrastructure & facilities

A building designed
for people who are
three feet tall.

Low shelving, rounded edges, natural light, washable surfaces and a floor children can sit on. Every fitting was chosen against a single question — is this right for a small child?

  • Air-conditioned, activity-zoned classrooms with soft flooring
  • Interactive display panel in every room, used sparingly and deliberately
  • Child-height washrooms adjoining each classroom
  • Dedicated art, music and movement room
  • Reading corner and lending library from Nursery upward
  • Shaded outdoor play area, sand pit and splash zone
  • Clean in-house kitchen with a posted weekly menu
  • Nap room with individual bedding for day boarders
Day boarding & the parent work station

For parents who work —
and would rather not
choose.

Day boarding runs to 6 PM with rest, meals and supervised play. And if you would rather be five minutes from your child than fifty, our parent work station lets you work on campus for the day.

Day boarding — until 6:00 PM

A structured extended day, not a waiting room. Children rest properly, eat properly and are occupied by an adult who knows them.

  • Hot lunch and an evening snack, freshly prepared on site
  • Supervised rest with individual bedding, changed daily
  • Afternoon story, art and free-choice play
  • Homework and readiness support for LKG and UKG
  • Daily written update on meals, sleep and mood
  • Flexible — take it full week, or only on the days you need it

The parent work station

A quiet, air-conditioned work area on campus with desks, power and Wi-Fi — so a parent settling a new child, a nursing mother or anyone who simply wants to be close can work a normal day without leaving.

  • Individual desks with power points and high-speed Wi-Fi
  • Quiet zone, separate from the classroom corridors
  • Tea, coffee and drinking water through the day
  • Especially useful during the two-week settling-in period
  • Bookable by the day — no additional charge for enrolled families
  • A room to take a call in, without disturbing anyone
Safe & highly secure

The question every parent
asks second, and worries
about first.

We would rather answer it before you ask. Here is exactly how a child stays safe at Keystage, from the gate to the pick-up line.

Single controlled entry

One gate, staffed through the day. Every visitor logged, verified and escorted. No one reaches a classroom corridor unaccompanied.

Full CCTV coverage

Cameras in every classroom, corridor, play area and entry point, recorded and retained. Footage reviewable by parents on written request.

Verified pick-up only

A named, photographed authorised list per child. Anyone not on it is not released — and you get a call, every time, without exception.

Staff verification

Police verification, reference checks and a child-protection briefing for every member of staff, teaching and non-teaching alike.

Female attendants

Trained female attendants supervise all washroom routines and personal care. No exceptions, and no male staff involvement.

Child-safe fittings

Rounded furniture edges, anti-skid flooring, socket guards, grilled windows, gated stairways and no accessible glass at child height.

Health & first aid

A trained first-aider on duty, a stocked medical room, logged medication and a tie-up with a nearby hospital for emergencies.

Fire & evacuation

Extinguishers serviced on schedule, marked exits, and a full evacuation drill every term, timed and recorded.

Transport, if you use it

GPS-tracked vehicles, a female attendant on every route, verified drivers, speed governors and boarding confirmed to parents.

Questions parents actually ask

The honest answers.

My child has never been away from me. How do you handle the first week?

With a staged plan agreed with you in advance. Day one is often an hour with you present. We shorten and lengthen the day over roughly two weeks until your child is comfortable. Some children settle in three days and some take a month — both are normal, and we will not rush yours.

What is the teacher to child ratio?

One qualified teacher to eight children, with a trained classroom helper in every room. In Pre-Nursery, where children need the most physical care, the effective adult-to-child ratio is higher still.

Can I see CCTV footage of my child's classroom?

Yes, on written request to the Head of Pre School, viewed on campus. We do not provide live remote streaming, because open live feeds of a classroom create a child-safety risk of their own.

Is food provided, and can you handle allergies?

A hot lunch and snacks are prepared in our own kitchen with a menu published weekly. Allergies and dietary restrictions are recorded at admission, flagged in the kitchen and on the class list, and confirmed with you each term.

What happens after UKG?

Children move directly into Grade 1 at Keystage School of Excellence on the same campus, which follows the Pearson Edexcel British curriculum. There is no fresh admission process and no entrance test for children continuing from our pre-school.

Do you take children mid-year?

Yes, subject to seats in the relevant group. Mid-year admissions get the same staged settling-in plan — arguably it matters more, because the group has already formed.

What are the fees?

Fees depend on the programme and whether you take day boarding and transport. We share the complete fee card, with every component itemised and no hidden charges, at your campus visit.
